Welcome to the Los Angeles based Prehistoryk Sqysh Fysh Mutant Vehicle group.
The look is loosely based on the deep sea angler fish (Fanfin sea devil, Caulophryne Jordani) as the starting point, but with a lantern added for effect). The 2008 theme “The American Dream”, inspired us to pay homage to Simpson’s blinky fish, our’s also has a third eye, a mutation as a result of environmental contamination. The 2009 theme of evolution almost lends itself to this creature.
Safety is our primary concern. The structure was over-designed to accommodate more than enough riders on the trailer and on deck. Serious mechanical and electrical work was performed to keep the van in good working order. Playa riders are directed to the designated entrance/exit once she’s come to a stop. The vehicle operates with several members around the vehicle watching out for the riders and obstacles, with a navigator on deck.
The basis of the project is a 1985 Ford Club Wagon Van. The deck is permanently welded to the van at several key attachment points, which has allowed up to 20 people to ride on top. Other key van mods have allowed for 2 inch bamboo slats to create the body shape. Once the bamboo is secured, the skin is overlayed. The main skin base is Aluminet, an agricultural cloth used to reduce solar effects while still allowing wind through. Lighting primarily consists of 2000W of energy saving CFLs in shop clamps. The sound system is controlled on deck via dj controls. An upper and lower sound system makes up the set. the interior of the van is a warm cozy womb. A 16 foot double axle trailer extends the fish body out the rear, often used for shady cruisin or hoppin dance floor. The rear of the trailer contains the generator box, which powers light and sound on separate units.

2008 was the PSF’s first year on the playa. Now that we have some experience
with this beast, the current goal is to improve on the existing design,
including ease of assembly, improve its aesthetic and safety features,
perhaps add an aerial performance rig.

"The American Dream", our fish had one key difference. Paying
homage to Simpson’s blinky fish, our’s also has a third eye, a mutation
as a result of environmental contamination. The 2009 theme of evolution
