Welcome to the Prehistoryk Sqysh Fysh Mutant Vehicle group. This is an informational page for the Los Angeles-based Burning Man Lantern Fish Mutant Vehicle.

Big Picture:
Now that we've created the mutant vehicle, the present goal is to improve on the existing design, including ease of assembly, adding an aerial performance rig, improving the aesthetic, and adding fire effects.

Creative direction:
The creative direction is loosely based on the deep sea angler fish (Fanfin seadevil, Caulophryne Jordani) as the starting point, but with a lantern added for effect). She's spiky, mean, and badass. With the 2008 theme "The American Dream", our fish had one key difference. Paying homage to Simpson's blinky fish, our's also has a third eye, a mutation as a result of environmental contamination. The 2009 theme of evolution almost lends itself to this creature.

Safety:
This is our primary concern. The structure was overdesigned to accomodate more than enough riders on the trailer and on deck. Serious engine work was performed to keep the van in good working order. Playa riders are directed to a safe entrance/exit from the stopped vehicle. The vehicle operates with several members around the vehicle watching out for the riders and obstacles.
